Capella's Babies Have Arrived!
5/30/21
After an extremely difficult kidding, Capella finally delivered two bucklings at 2:30am. One polled, one horned. Their names are Huckleberry and Acorn. The smaller boy (Huckleberry) is not out of the woods yet as he had a very challenging delivery. He was coming out head first with one leg twisted all the way back, so I had to intervene and push him back in to dig for the other hoof. I could not find it! Finally, after much prayer, I located it pretty far back and was able to pull him out with her contractions, but she was pretty exhausted by that point. Boy #2, Acorn, had his own set of challenges as the largest buck I have delivered to date. Both legs pinned back and shoulders first AND he had a huge head on top of it, so it took a bit of twisting and pulling to get him out. Many times, Capella gave up and wouldn't push, so it was quite the challenge. God was in the barn with Hannah and I this morning no doubt and we really felt His presence. We could use prayers for mom and kids today as she is pretty beat up. Both boys are chocolate buckskins - one is blue eyed and heavily moonspotted, and the other is polled, blue eyed and moonspotted and is Glory's "mini-me." The boys are adorable and just so photogenic.
