There is a lot of uncertainty in the world today, and I find myself thinking more and more about how prepared our own family is for times of unrest. Unrest could come in the form of mandatory masks and quarantine, civil unrest, the grid going down, or even war? The problem is that we just don't know what's coming, or when. It's important to not live in fear, but God calls us to look for the signs and to be prepared for tough times. If you lost power, what would you do? If stores closed, do you have enough food to feed your family? If so, for how long? Do you have alternate means of providing power for the basic appliances and also for heating your home in winter?
We should be very concerned about the food supply and where things are heading. Most people have no idea what's going on. This is a really big problem, and it's only going to get worse. In times like these, these big operations have major issues and have no other recourse than to destroy both food and animals. It is a tight pipeline that HAS to keep moving - a conveyor belt with no off switch. They have zero backup plan for times like these, but why would they? This has never happened before and is our government's fault. Animals are suffering needlessly and it's heartbreaking to hear about the struggles on these farms.

How do we feed our families in times of crisis? We depend so much on grocery stores, restaurants, meal kit services, large factory farms and unsustainable models that in times like this when the pipeline stops and businesses shut down, we are left without the basic necessities. Food does not come from boxes and grocery stores - it comes from real farms and real people.
What can we do? You may tell yourself you don't have a green thumb, but it's actually easy to start growing food in your own backyard! Lawn is useless, and could easily be turned into a food forest that produces a lot of the food you need to feed your own family and maybe some friends too!
