EGGS FOR SALE!!
The Laughing Hen is my nine year old daughter Hanna's egg business. She designed the egg carton label herself, and helps take care of the 15 chickens that we have. We will only be able to have a small number of customers initially (about four at one dozen per week) as we will only have a few dozen each week to sell, but plan to expand this coming summer and offer eggs to additional customers. These are special, hard to find eggs as our chickens are pasture raised and fed only organic and soy-free feed. Eggs at the market that are not even necessarily organic, but are free range, range from $6-9 for a dozen. Exclusively vegetarian fed is not ideal either since chicken are omnivores (eating LOADS of bugs/ticks, etc. as well as grasses and vegetation.
Our chickens are not given medication unless absolutely necessary, and if so, then the eggs are tossed out for quite awhile (much longer than is required) and customers will be notified in case they want to drop out for awhile. We are a very holistic family, and strongly believe in organic, preventative measures to keep everyone healthy! Eggs range in many gorgeous colors such as white, light brown, tan, chocolate brown, chocolate brown with speckles, tan with speckles, pale blue/green, and brilliant blue! First come, first serve with customers, so please fill out the contact form if interested!
(Note from Hanna) "First thing in the morning, I collect the eggs. I am also very excited to collect the eggs because we get all sorts of colors. We get bright blue eggs from our Ameraucana, green-blue eggs from our Easter Egger, and lots of other different colors. I call our egg business " The Laughing Hen" because hens like to cackle! We have green, blue, and green egg cartons. A half dozen will be $3.50 or a full dozen of eggs are $6.50, and pick-ups are on Sundays (or by special arrangement). You can't beat the freshness of eggs bought straight from the farm. And you also get to know where your eggs come from! Our eggs are washed, clean, and never have manure on them. And they are delicious! Our hens are free-ranged, and we treat them with bugs, fruit, and organic compost! We raised all of them from chicks and now they are strong and healthy chickens! I plan to have a dried herb business as well starting next summer, so check back for more details!!
Well, we will be glad to have some customers so give us a call!"
